How education has changed

over the years

Education has advanced drastically from its inception in the ancient world. Before books and buildings, when oral stories passed information down orally, education was still of vital importance to many cultures. Over the decades, technology has been one driving force in altering how and what we learn.

In the past centuries, education was more closely associated with a privileged few, primarily those of elite wealth backgrounds. But due to a successful fight for equal access to education across race and income levels, today more people than ever before have access to higher education.

Recently, advancements in technology have drastically changed how education is hosted and administered. Modern advancements such as online classrooms, virtual reality simulators and interactive databases allow knowledge to be delivered more efficiently than ever before. Students can now complete degrees online without attending physical classes; teachers can interact with students from around the world or have classes broadcasted into multiple locations at once; computer simulations can recreate real-world situations so students can explore them without leaving their desk.

The value foreign language immersion is becoming increasingly important as well in modern education systems. Having a global perspective is an important tool for students who will soon step into careers that regularly require international collaboration and communication with other cultures.
